I can't check in even though I'm standing at the café.
Check-in needs two GPS conditions to be true at the same time:
- Your distance to the café must be 25 meters or less.
- Your GPS accuracy must be better than 50 meters (the server hard-rejects anything worse than 200 m).
Indoors - especially in basements, malls, or buildings with thick walls - your iPhone's GPS accuracy can drop to 100 m or more. Step outside for ten seconds, wait for the locator dot to tighten, then try again. If you're already outside and still blocked, toggle Airplane Mode on and off to force CoreLocation to re-acquire a fix.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Profile → Settings → Delete Account. We delete your server-side check-ins, achievements, friendships, and profile immediately. There is no soft-delete and no recovery window - the data is gone as soon as the request completes.
Your Sign in with Apple identifier is removed from our side; if you want to revoke the Apple Sign In relationship entirely, do it in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Sign in with Apple → Hard Rock Collector → Stop Using Apple ID.
Why do you need my location?
Only to verify that you're physically at a café when you tap check-in. We never read your location in the background, never store a movement history, and never sell or share location data. The check-in record stores the coordinates you submitted at that one moment so we can prove the visit was on-site - nothing else.

I lost my collection / I'm on a new iPhone.
Sign in with the same Apple ID you used originally and your full collection - check-ins, badges, achievements, friends, streaks - re-syncs from the server. Nothing is device-bound.
If you signed in with a different Apple ID by mistake, sign out (Settings → Sign Out) and sign back in with the correct one. The two collections do not merge.
How do I restore my Collector Plus subscription?
Settings → Subscription → Restore Purchases in the app. This re-queries Apple for active subscriptions tied to your Apple ID. Subscriptions are managed by Apple - you can also cancel or change tier in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
For refund requests, use reportaproblem.apple.com. We don't process payments and cannot issue refunds directly.
I found a café that's not in the catalog or has closed.
Email the address (or coordinates) and what changed. We update the catalog from a hand-curated list and push deltas to the app on the next sync, so updates roll out without you needing to install a new build.
Closed cafés stay collectible as legacy stamps for travelers who visited before they shut down.
Sign in with Apple isn't working.
Try in this order:
- Check that you're online - Sign in with Apple needs to reach Apple's servers and ours.
- Update iOS if you're more than one version behind; Apple has fixed several Sign In bugs in recent point releases.
- Toggle Airplane Mode on and off, then try again.
- If the button shows but nothing happens after tapping, force-quit the app and reopen.
- Still stuck? Email us with your iOS version and a screenshot.
Push notifications don't arrive.
First check iOS Settings → Notifications → Hard Rock Collector → Allow Notifications. Then in the app: Settings → Notifications and confirm the categories you want are on (friend requests, first-visitor alerts, streak reminders).
If notifications still don't arrive, sign out and back in - that re-registers your APNs token with the server.
Is this the official Hard Rock Cafe app?
No. Hard Rock Collector is an independent fan project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Hard Rock International. We use no official logos or trademarks - only an original design language inspired by the rock, travel, and lounge aesthetic.
